Indexing a book takes a few weeks. It begins after the final editing and proofreading of the book because content often shifts pages when changes are made to the proofs. The page numbers must be stabilized in order for the indexing to start. As soon as you have an idea of when the pages will be stable, please reach out to schedule your project.

To get started, you can contact Mary Stevens through this form. Please provide the following information:
1) The book's topic. An abstract or sample page is also very helpful.
2) If it is a trade book, textbook, scholarly book, or manual
3) The total number of words on the indexable pages (the introduction and chapters)
4) If you'd like the endnotes/footnotes indexed (if so, please include in word count)
5) When you expect to send me the final proofs (PDF)
6) The due date for the index. A 200-page book would take around 2–3 weeks.
